Orientin

Orientin is a naturally occurring chemical compound that can be found in Rooibos teas. Orientin has anti-inflammation properties as well as antioxidant properties. Orientin works as an anti-inflammatory for the arteries and also cuts down on the number of adhesion molecules in the blood stream, which is a fancy way of saying reducing plaque in the arteries. All of the things translate to a lower risk of major cardiovascular diseases, heart attack, stroke, and Alzheimer’s. Below is a list of Abe's teas containing high levels of orientin.

Tannins

Tannins are a chemical compound found in green tea, that can have many positive effects on the body. They are found naturally in different fruits and plants but the highest levels are found in green teas. Some of the most beneficial properties of Tannins is that they are anticarcinogenic, reduce blood pressure, and play an important role in liver health. Tannins also have very strong antimicrobial activities. It is well documented that they inhibit the growth of many different types of fungi, yeasts, bacteria, and viruses. Tannic acid being a sub group of tannins, have also been found to have inhibitory effects towards food-borne and aquatic bacteria.

Theaflavins

Theaflavins are a very beneficial compound that is found naturally in many types of  Black tea. Theaflavins have antioxidative properties that help in the reduction of free radicals. This can drastically lower risk of many types of cancer.
